What is the estimate for when the new pier will open for fishing and/or the old pier will be gone? Will demolition of the old pier disrupt fishing in early June?
I have done some research but I am looking for an early June status.
Thank you.

In your research, have you come across this? It's from the Santa Rosa County website, which states that completion of the pier could possibly be as early as May 2010.

Thank you AG,
I will be there in June again and I had also read that final removal of the old pier was scheduled for June. I am not sure if a press release is as accurate as "local" information. I am just anxious to see the finished product.

You're welcome, greendrake ... just keep watching the new pier topic as that's where the newest info is most likely to be posted. We try not to post "rumors" but if anyone gets some reliable info, it'll will surely be posted asap.
Remember, in case the NB pier isn't quite ready when you're here, the pier at Pensacola isn't that far away and is said to be an excellent fishing pier as well! Thankfully, we have options in this area! David, our NBLF official "Fishing Guide," can fill you in on all the best info, for sure!

According to the contractor they have 355' to complete the total of 1545' of the new pier. Weather cooperating and no other complications, they should finish before the May target.
The demolition of the old pier is supposed to restart before the end of this month and should finish before the new opening.

They are 77% done with the new pier, and the demolition of the old pier has begun.
