Thanks for coming by and taking some great photos Kenny. As a volunteer/kayak instructor, I would say the camp was a great success! The students, 4th/5th and 8th/9th graders, learned soo much and had soo much fun learning about the marine enviroment. They did things like shark, starfish and squid dissection, were intoduced to the fundamentals of fishing, made their own plankton nets, captured plankton, viewed them on a microscope and ID'd them. They all took a trip to the Gulfarium for a back stage tour and learned of the consequences of marine debris. And they were introduced to kayaking!! plus many other activities. Another great part of this camp was in addition to adult professional instructors, there were junior and seniors from Ms. Fearon's NHS classes that mentored the younger students, giving them a real one on one learning enviro.
Watch for notices for next years Marine Science camps. Right now there are plans to do at least 4 thru the summer.
