Uh oh.... Navarre is screwed! Storms on the way folks!

Jim Cantore (famed as the "Storm Bringer" on the Weather Channel) is in town.

Oh s**t!

Sorry for those who have come for the Memorial Day weekend!
Might be a movie theater, Naval Aviation Muesum, bar/restaurant kind of indoor weekend. Why I like the old Holiday Inn "Holidome" design - was great for bad weather. Lots of indoor stuff for kids, and pool side libations for adults.

I guess I'll just stay around the house. A big upside of living here (retired) - can pick beach time to fit the weather.
Cheers, Pete

I am in Gulf Shores. The towns are securing items that can become missiles. This is not good.

Hmmm. It might go more towards AL than FL, but still as you say... "not good".

I think the vast majority of the rain and wind will be far east of P'town/Navarre. Even if the cone comes straight over Navarre, the bad part will be PCB and beyond. No worries mate. Water is still too cool.

This was re-posted by SSR News...

James Spann, a meteorologist in Birmingham, tweeted this evening to his roughly 400K followers that the North American Model shows Alberto landfall Monday afternoon near Navarre Beach.

The National Hurricane Center's 10 p.m., CDT update shows Alberto moving NNE at 13 mph with sustained winds of 40 mph.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for our area.

5 AM NWS update:

"The latest model guidance has shifted notably to the right, and the NHC track
forecast has been adjusted by about 30 n mi in that direction."

Center of the guidance is now at the east end of Choctawhatchee Bay/Grayton Beach area, with landfall about midday Monday. Would increase effects in the crowded Panama City Beach area. If holds, would also put Navarre on the west/"dry" side. Hopefully, will know more later today, this evening.
Cheers, Pete

Well, well, this AM the guidance has shifted west again - center of cone is Mary Esther. Navarre back in the cone. Also, slowed down. Landfall of center moved to later PM from noonish. At this moment at my house, no rain and not much wind.

p.s. when posted noted I had not changed control panel settings to DST. Done now.
