Shell Art Part 2

Had to make a few changes to make it all work. The 1st flat panel LED was not able to dim, it turns out, and it came out exceedingly bright to where it lit up my entire backyard. I bought a second light that was dimmable and came in a more natural amber light and had the good fortune to fit perfectl...

Re: New Shell art idea - part 1

Yeah, no kidding, that would weigh a TON!!! But very interesting and creative!! You are an artist! What medium did you use to stick the shells together on your "canvas"? I've made shell wreaths using the straw type wreaths as a base (Elmer's Glue for an adherent). Even using fewer shells, the wreat...

New Shell art idea - part 1

Its been a few years since I made anything from the shells collected, but due to recent visit to Navarre and being "inspired" I thought I would give it go. This is kind of a redesign of a previous idea I did, though it was bit of a fail. I was happy to see it was still hanging in the carport of the ...

Re: Ukrainian Collusion?

Personally I am shocked that it has taken this long for Congress to finally get some traction on impeachment given Trump's ineptitude on everything. Soliciting foreign powers for dirt on election rivals is against the law, but if nothing else, there current strategy of blocking everything is certain...

Re: Humberto?

Spent a solid 10 days there. Weather was good though the seas got rough in the middle part. I don't really fish, but did catch a small catfish with a net, and caught several nice size Blue Crabs, though released them all. Due to a fiasco with Lowe's subcontractor that was suppose replace carpet on t...

Re: Humberto?

Humberto appears to be a miss but I am keeping an eye on the other disturbance in the Gulf. https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/gtwo.php?basin=atlc&fdays=2 4. A large area of showers and thunderstorms over the eastern Gulf of Mexico is primarily associated with a upper-level low pressure area. Only slow develo...

Re: Current Liberal Environment In FL

I did actually read Atlas Shrugged when I was in high school and no, it wasn't mandatory. I took a literature class as an easy elective between my harder science and math classes. Basically just pick your own books and do book reports once in awhile. I read a lot then, but most favored science ficti...

Re: Current Liberal Environment In FL

Not sure if any of you live in Florida or are aware of Florida history. For years, the controlling party of Florida was Democrats. Only with the change of the evangelicals in the late 80s and early 90s did we begin to see the Republicans take seats. It also had to do with many people changing from ...

Re: Current Liberal Environment In FL

The thread makes little sense given that the entire area is very conservative and they control the local governments all the way up to the state legislature and Governorship even now and have for a very long time. Its really a conservative thing to promote unlimited growth and gut environmental rest...

Re: My Sweet Girls

Marko, What breed of dog is that in your avatar? So cute! I enlarged the photo but still couldn't see it very well. We used to tell people it was a Japanese Chin, but then we had it's DNA tested. Turns out it is mostly Pekingese-Pomeranian with some Chow and 10 % unknown. A mutt basically. A friend...

Re: Do not listen to the polls except

There's a site filled with statistics and polls that are quite interesting. They used to do football statistics and rank teams, maybe they still do. Anyway, I like the site. www.fivethirtyeight.com I like this site as well. They are math weenies, and really only care about the statistics. They aggr...

Found image of our dog from a grooming last year on the groomer's website. They used to have a whole 10 minute abbreviated video. We should have made a coat out of that.

Re: VOTE

For the record, I do have a Beto sign in the front yard, and yes, I am fully aware of all the issues he stands for and that of Cruz. In this north Dallas 'burb, signs are running about 6-7 to 1 for Beto. I was very surprised when my very conservative, retired neighbors but up a Beto sign after mine,...

Re: Joys of gardening!

Been kind of a mixed bag gardening this year. Beans and Cucumbers were very poor. I had hoped tomatoes would come back in the fall, but they never did. The deluge of rain we have been getting is knocking over my okra, which has turned out to be a good crop for here as they love the hot. Peppers are ...

Re: So...has Red Tide arrived?

It would seem unlikely given the recent hurricane weather as it effectively churns up the water. The have maps though, http://myfwc.maps.arcgis.com/apps/View/index.html?appid=87162eec3eb846218cec711d16462a72 Should be updated in a few days. After doing some reading, it could go either way: https://w...
