Too many pics to re-post from my trip to Tampa Bay 6-8 NOV 12...be sure to check out the first page of 50, including my shots of a dolphin airborne OVER some birds and my bird close-ups...especially the osprey, pelicans, black skimmers, American oystercatchers, yellow-crowned night-herons, and double-breasted comorants!

Very interesting pictorial ... loved the "Air Force" of 3 pelicans in flight! Wink

Thanks A.G.! I hope just posting a link here was not too much to ask for people to take a look....it also cut my posting time by a third! Wink

I wish I had a PWS on WU Brian, but I do not have a PWS. Good question though! Smile

Besides, I would not want the open forum of WU to know my exact GPS location for left-wing media targeting purposes.....

Super shots, Jeff. Love the jumping dolphin. Did you see him jumping and just timed it right or happened to be at the right place and right time? I love Tampa and Tampa Bay. That is about as far south in Florida as I want to go.

P'Kid, thanks for taking a look. I heard the dolphin jump and splash the first time which got my attention away from the bird activity I was photographing...then I waited to see what it was amking all the splashing...then I shot about 5 photos in a row...the two I posted were "accidentally" timed perfectly at the apex of the dolphin jumps. The other three photos were just of the post-jump splash down.

So, to answer your question, a little bit of both I guess--luck and timing!

Smile
